In the first half of this year, Plastika VD Kroměříž, a manufacturer of plastic products, had returns of CZK 340 million, which means an increase by CZK 82 million when compared with the previous year. Its profits almost doubled when compared with CZK 4.5 million reached in the previous year, the chairman of the co-operative, Mr. Miroslav Kundera, told the press.
About half of the profits made were generated by the sale of plastic keyboards and other computer parts. About fifteen per cent of the returns were due to the production of products and components for the automotive industry, e. g. for the Octavia, Fabia, Opel and Mercedes cars. About a third of the sales were products for the electrotechnical and information industry. Half of these sales were supplies to the electrotechnical and information industry. Plastika's largest customer is the multinational Flextronics company.
The company exported about 75 per cent of its production, mainly to Germany, France, The Netherlands and the U. K. Minor importers include Slovakia and Hungary.
According to Kundera, mid-year results provide good basis for the fulfilment of the annual plan, which envisages annual revenues of CZK 618 million and profit of CZK 13.5 million. Last year, the company had revenues of CZK 497 million and profit of CZK 9.5 million.
"In the second half of the year, we will commence with the assembly of connectors for information technologies of the French Nexans company. The annual volume of deliveries will represent about CZK 15 million," said Kundera. According to the company's director, the company is already preparing a production programme for 2002, which envisages a growth by CZK 150 to 200 million when compared with the results of 2001.
