During the last week's negotiations of the tripartite in Zlín, vice-prime minister Vladimír Špidla made a little break on Monday. He visited the Kroměříž-based Plastika company, where he held talks above all about the employing of handicapped people. Before discussing the problems with the company management, Špidla made a tour of a part of the plant. According to what Špidla said during this tour, his ministry tries "to open a road to normal working life for handicapped citizens". Špidla also admitted that in some cases employing handicapped people does not have a positive economic effect; however, it "increases the quality of their lives, and that is what the state wants to support and provide aid for". In connection with this he also mentioned so-called protected workshops.
The vice-prime minister also informed the company management about some proposals aimed at improving the economic situation of companies. First of all he completely rejected the idea of lower taxes; however, he also mentioned proposals for the simplification of the tax system, faster depreciation of some investment items and some novelties in the career education of employees.
