Plastics producer VD Plastika Kroměříž recorded in the first three quarters of 2000 a growth in yields by 38% to 349,324 million CZK. The profit prior to taxation reached 4,512 million CZK, which is 114% higher than at the same time last year. Economic deputy Vojtěch Miler announced this to reporters on Wednesday.
Roughly half of the gains came from the production of plastic keyboards and 30% came from delivery of products and components for the automobile industry, like the Skoda Fabia and Octavia, Opel and Mercedes. The remainder of yields came from the electronic technology industry and highway sign production. 75% of yields came from export and was comparable with last year's third quarter.
Plastika has exported automobile mouldings and products for office technology to France, Germany, the Netherlands, the USA, Mexico and Great Britain, with the keyboards and highway signs mostly going to Germany.
"In the third quarter we started up production of plastic parts for peripheral computer accessories for the supranational company Flextronics International, and we'll be sending them the first shipments by November. The contract signed until March of 2001 is in the volume of 35 million CZK", said Miler.
Due to the strong Czech Crown against the Euro and Deutsch Mark and the Crown's weakness against the US Dollar, Plastika, as a meaningful exporter, has lost three million since the beginning of the year. It's expecting to lose around another million by the end of the year.
Plasticka employs 238 people, 16 more than this point last year. By the end of the year they anticipate yields of 480 million CZK and a profit prior to taxation around 7 million CZK.
