Despite currency losses - about forty five million Czech crowns in three quarters of this year - the revenues of Plastika v. d. (production cooperative) Kromeriz were 407.5 million CZK, which is 25 per cent more than in the third quarter of the previous year. The profit of the company amounted 15.16 million CZK, which is comparable with that in the same period of 2001, said Mr. Miroslav Kundera, Chairman of the production cooperative. The dramatic increase in revenues can be attributed to a rising number of orders and new product types. A negative impact on the business activity had the reduction of orders for the automotive sector, particularly for Skoda. The supplies for Flextronics, also, fell to 25 per cent of past year's 80 million CZK, as a result of closing Flextronics' plant in Brno, Miroslav Kundera added. Production of plastic keyboards accounted for approx. one half of the revenues and one third was made up by supplies for power engineering and IT sector. The rest were components for the automotive industry, road marker posts and plastic fans. The export rose by five per cent, now amounting 80 per cent. The main export destinations are Germany, France, Netherlands and UK. Small numbers of products were exported to Slovakia and Hungary.
Plastika has 250 full-time staff members. In 2002, it has put about 27 million CZK in new technologies and storage facilities. The forecast of this-year revenues is 590 million CZK, thus exceeding past-year volume by 27 per cent. The share of export sales in total revenues should not fall below the present level, i.e. 80 per cent, and company´ profit should be 20 million CZK compared with 18 million in 2001.
Plastika was the most badly damaged company by the flood in 1997 in the Kromeriz region. The water level was 2 meters in the plant area and, moreover, water stayed 3 weeks here - much longer than in other places. However, Plastika, employing predominantly handicapped persons, had a good luck - even in this disaster situation: it was among the few ones who were insured against flood. The total damage caused by the flood amounted almost 200 million CZK.
